Public relations (PR) and marketing coordinators are in charge of organizing marketing and public relations efforts for their company. They coordinate communication with vendors and customers to increase brand recognition, and one of their main duties is collaborating with colleagues on marketing materials that build brand awareness and sales. PR and marketing coordinators also make sure timelines are met and manage relationships with external partners. They develop business relationships in an effort to increase brand loyalty and company profitability, as well as assist with the creation and development of effective marketing campaigns.

PR and marketing coordinators also execute and manage outbound direct response activities, including answering e-mail, and website correspondence. Additionally, they create detailed reports to ensure client transparency and oversee print communication efforts to check for accuracy and procedure compliance. PR and marketing coordinators typically use a personal computer as one of their main tools to produce public relations statements, marketing materials, and send email to colleagues and prospective/current consumers. They typically communicate their progress to their direct supervisor, typically the public relations/marketing president in their department or organization.

A bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, or a related field is required for this position. Previous experience in a similar position or a related field may be preferred. PR and marketing coordinators must be results oriented, pay strong attention to detail, and have strong written and verbal communication skills. In addition, they should be highly organized, have a solid knowledge of a variety of marketing strategies, and work well independently and in a team environment.
